Barry Lee Frederick, a skilled tradesman known for his expertise in brickwork as well as vinyl flooring and carpet installation, passed away on March 17, 2026, in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was a beloved figure who carried on the legacy of his father by pursuing a career in brickwork, demonstrating both dedication and craftsmanship throughout his professional life.

Barry's education began at Cary High School in Cary, NC, where he laid the foundation for a life marked not only by hard work but also by a vibrant personality that touched everyone he met. He was known for his great sense of humor and playful nature as a prankster, balanced by a deeply caring and genuine spirit. Those who knew him remember a man whose warmth and authenticity left a lasting impression.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Barry’s proudest accomplishment was overcoming his personal challenges with resilience and strength. His greatest joy, however, was found in the company of his family. He cherished every moment spent with them, creating countless memories filled with love and laughter.

Barry is survived by his devoted wife, Sonya Scott Frederick; his daughters Katisha Crump, Sierra Ferguson (and her husband Brian Ferguson), Maya Frederick, and Marian Frederick; and his sons Jonathan Scott (and wife Tiffany Scott), Marcus Scott, Barry Lamont Frederick, and Taron Frederick. He was also a cherished brother to Debrah F. McDougal, and counted among his brothers Eugene Christopher and his wife, Maria Frederick as well as Andrew Scott and his wife, Pamela Frederick.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Judy Frederick, and his brother, Curtis Patrick Frederick.

Barry's funeral service will be Friday, March 27, 2026 at 1:00PM at the Holly Springs United Church of Christ, 116 Third Street, Holly Springs with a visitation preceding the service at 12:30PM-1:00PM at the Church.  There will be a public viewing at Prince Funeral Home, 301 Bass Lake Road, Holly Springs from 2:00PM-6:00PM on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

Barry Lee Frederick’s legacy will live on through the memories he created with those he loved, the work he was so skilled at, and the strength he displayed throughout his life. He will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
